Algoma Places Order for Equinox Bulker in China

first_imgzoomIllustration; Image Courtesy: Algoma Canadian shipping company Algoma Central Corporation has exercised an option to build a new Equinox Class bulker in China.The seawaymax gearless vessel was ordered from Yangzijiang Shipyard and is scheduled to arrive in Canada for the 2021 navigation season.The option carries a price of USD 38 million and was exercised subsequent to the first quarter of 2019, the company said in its financial report for the period.For the three months ended March 31, 2019, Algoma Central Corporation delivered an increase of 19% in revenue, reaching CAD 71,853, mainly as a result of high customer demand and the addition of one vessel in the product tanker segment, and full fleet utilization in the ocean selfunloader segment.Net loss for the first quarter of 2019 expanded to CAD 22,800 from CAD 9,142 reported a year earlier, mainly due to a foreign currency loss in 2019 versus a gain reported in 2018 and higher lay-up and dry-dock expenses in 2019 than in the prior year.*(CAD 1 = USD 0.74)last_img read more

first_imgFacebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsApp#Bahamas, September 9, 2017 – Nassau – ……IRMA MAKING LANDFALL ON THE CAMAGUEY ARCHIPELAGO OF CUBA AS A CATEGORY 5 HURRICANE……HURRICANE WARNINGS FOR THE ISLANDS OF THE SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS EXCLUDING RAGGED ISLAND HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED.    HENCE THE ALL CLEAR HAS BEEN GIVEN FOR THE ISLANDS OF INAGUA, MAYAGUANA, CROOKED ISLAND, ACKLINS, LONG CAY AND SAMANA CAY.HURRICANE WARNINGS REMAIN IN EFFECT FOR THE NORTHWEST AND CENTRAL BAHAMAS AND RAGGED ISLAND.    THIS INCLUDES THE ISLANDS OF GRAND BAHAMA, ABACO, BIMINI, THE BERRY ISLANDS, ANDROS, NEW PROVIDENCE, ELEUTHERA, EXUMA, LONG ISLAND, CAT ISLAND, RUM CAY, SAN SALVADOR, AND RAGGED ISLAND.  A HURRICANE WARNING MEANS THAT HURRICANE CONDITIONS ARE AFFECTING OR CAN AFFECT THE AFOREMENTIONED AREAS WITHIN 36 HOURS. AT 11:00PM EDT, THE CENTER OF HURRICANE IRMA WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 22.1 DEGREES NORTH AND LONGITUDE 77.7 DEGREES WEST OR ABOUT 110 MILES WEST OF RAGGED ISLAND, 120 MILES SOUTH OF MAR BAY ANDROS AND 201 MILES SOUTH OF NEW PROVIDENCE.IRMA IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST NEAR 13 MPH. A TURN TOWARD THE NORTHWEST IS EXPECTED BY LATE SATURDAY. ON THE FORECAST TRACK, THE CENTER OF IRMA SHOULD MOVE NEAR THE NORTH COAST OF CUBA THROUGH SATURDAY, NEAR THE FLORIDA KEYS SUNDAY MORNING, AND THEN NEAR THE SOUTHWEST COAST OF FLORIDA SUNDAY AFTERNOON.MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE INCREASED TO NEAR 160 MILES PER HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS.    IRMA IS ONCE AGAIN A CATEGORY FIVE (5) HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON HURRICANE WIND SCALE. Air Force to Identify Candidates to Host RPA Units

center_img The basing criteria will focus on mission requirements — runway length for the launch and recovery mission and synergies between common missions with existing units — capacity, environmental requirements and cost factors. The Air Force plans to identify candidate installations during the summer and preferred alternatives by early 2017.
